A unique location, a special microclimate, the foresight in the early 1980s to plant Merlot as the ideal grape to complement Sangiovese in a very particular "terroir" produce a wine which is perfectly balanced between elegance, power and complexity.

Blend: 50% Sangiovese + 50% Merlot from single vineyard
Aging: 18 months, barriques (Merlot/70% new), tonneaux (Sangiovese/70% new) Finissage: 4 months in concrete tanks
Average production: 30.000 bottles

This Classic Riserva is dedicated to the Mazzei’s notable ancestor, Ser Lapo, known as the “father” of the Chianti wine appellation which he coined on December 16th 1398. Selected from mainly medium to high density vineyards at Castello di Fonterutoli estate, and from grapes with structures tannins that prospect a longer ageing period. Ideal for a sophisticated Riserva.

Blend: 90% Sangiovese, 10% Merlot
Aging: 12 months, barriques and tonneaux (50% new)

This wine is dedicated to Philip Mazzei (1730-1816), an illustrious ancestor of the family, political thinker, American Patriot and pioneer, together with Thomas Jefferson, of the viticulture in Virginia.

A blend of the finest Cabernet Sauvignon selected from the Mazzei’s estates of Fonterutoli and Belguardo. Combines the fragrance and elegance typical of the traditional area of Chianti Classico, with the opulence and power from the more recently discovered Maremma region. Complex and exotic, with waves of bittersweet chocolate, spices, cinnamon, clove and mint. Rich and yet supple and silky.

Blend: 100% Cabernet Sauvignon
Aging: 18 months, barrique and American oak barrels (30% new)

Concerto di Fonterutoli was born in 1981 in the wake of a viticulture aware of untapped potential, which was experiencing new forms of vine training and new blends also including non-indigenous grape varieties. It is one of the 10 forerunners of the phenomenon
of the so-called Super Tuscans and still one of the major players.

Blend: 80% Sangiovese, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon
Aging: 18 months, barriques (Cabernet Sauvignon/70% new), tonneaux (Sangiovese/70% new)
Finissage: 4 months in concrete tanks
